Corruption at Jamestown Prison: The murder of a female officer working in an all male prison, followed by three male officers deaths, caused a red flag for governmental investigation. Murder led to drugs and other findings. The involvement of one female officer and her experiences working with the FBI inside the prison depicts experiences not common to the general public. As the events of the investigation transpire, the reader will be compelled to continue reading to the end.

Iris Gomez, an immigrants rights attorney and award winning author will be visiting EVERYbody Reads on Tuesday June 15th from 5:30 - 7:30PM to sign copies of her debut novel, Try to Remember. As always, the event is free and open to the public.
Iris' debut novel, Try to Remember, is featured in this month's Oprah Magazine.

Once it was normal for author Mark Edick to drink and take drugs. Now it is normal for him not to drink or take drugs. In this book, the concept of 'normal' is not simply a comparison between extremes, but of the personal and evolving understanding and acceptance of normal as it applies to the individual and his or her changing relationship with alcohol and drug. The individual's new normal involves adopting the habit of not drinking or drugging by stopping to think about potential actions and then to choose rationally rather than react due to force of habit. A refreshing examination of the human condition and how one man was able to beat the odds by redefining the meaning of normal.
Becoming Normal: An Ever-Changing Perspective is a narrative examination of the author's understanding of addiction and his journey to discover how to live a healthy, meaningful, and normal life. His down-to-earth approach and his examination of self-defeating thought processes offer an alternative perspective to those who struggle with the stigma associated with their admission and identification as an alcoholic/addict.
